President Donald Trump made a bittersweet announcement this week, suggesting that he may have reached the twilight of his golfing days.
Trump, who won the annual tournament at his Palm Beach County club,
said it was “probably my last” after dominating on the same green where he was nearly assassinated last August.
“I just won the Golf Club Championship, probably my last, at Trump International Golf Club, in Palm Beach County,
Florida. Such a great honor! The Awards dinner is tonight, at the Club. I want to thank the wonderful Golf Staff, and all of the many fantastic golfers,
that participated in the event. Such fun!” Trump wrote in a social media post, the Daily Caller reported.
Although the entire course is one of 18 owned by the Trump Organization worldwide, it is generally regarded as the crown jewel because it essentially functions as
President Trump’s garden at his Mar-a-Lago home. Since the day of the inauguration, he has been visiting the property virtually every weekend, signing executive orders and giving spontaneous press appearances.
The White House published images of President Trump watching a fleet of American missiles rain down on Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen while wearing golf apparel the day before the golf event.
The Republican’s passion for golf has been a defining characteristic of his public life, providing fans with one last chance to witness Trump engaging in his favorite activity.
