The 78-year-old president recently did an interview with Fox News host Laura Ingraham, where he touched on everything from his sleep routine to high-stakes negotiations with China.
During the wide-ranging conversation, Trump took a moment to praise his children, saying: “If you look at my kids, all of my kids, they’ve been very good, they’ve been very smart.” He noted that they have each attended prestigious schools and worked hard, adding: “They love our country and they’re proud of their father.”
The president then proudly described his youngest son, who turned 19 on Thursday (March 20), as having “an unbelievable aptitude in technology,” before recounting an anecdote that left viewers scratching their heads.
“He can look at a computer… I turn off his laptop, I s aid, ‘Oh good,’ and I go back about five minutes later, he’s got his laptop, I say, ‘How do you do that?’ He’s got an unbelievable aptitude in technology,” Trump said.
The moment quickly went viral, with critics pointing out that restarting a laptop is hardly a groundbreaking achievement – especially for someone of college age.
“BREAKING: In a bizarre moment, the President of the United States expresses astonishment that his college-age son can turn a laptop on after he turned it off, wondering ‘How’d you do that?’ This is abnormal. A weekly cognitive test should be mandatory,” one user reacted.
Another person posted: “Stop the press. Trump’s son can turn on a laptop!!!!” while a third mocked: “Donald Trump admitting that he knows absolutely NOTHING about computers, technology, or young people. Beyond embarrassing.”
“His aptitude is determined by turning on and off a laptop? Lmao gt**h,” someone else chimed in.
While many ridiculed the bizarre tech brag, a few were willing to play along with the bit. “Before you make fun of Barron Trump, try turning a laptop back on that’s been turned off, okay? It’s not so easy,” one person joked.

This isn’t the first time Trump praised Barron, as he previously credited his son for his supposed impact on the 2024 campaign trail.
He said he helped him secure younger voters by encouraging appearances on podcasts like those hosted by Joe Rogan and Theo Von.
“He knew the youth vote. You know we won the youth vote by 36 points and he was saying ‘Dad you gotta go out and do this one or that one and we did a lot of them and he respects them all, he understood them very well,” he said.
Melania Trump also shared her own praise, highlighting their son’s political instincts: “He’s a grown young man. I’m very proud of him – about his knowledge, even about politics, and giving advice to his father. He brought in so many young people.
“He knows his generation, because nowadays the young generation, they don’t sit in front of TV anymore. They’re all on the tablets, they’re on the phones, and all of these podcasts and streamers,” she continued.
“He was very vocal, and he gave an advice to his father, and was incredible how he brought in a success because he knew exactly who his father needs to contact and to talk to,” she added.watch below
